Our Mission

To promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner, and community leader, members develop skills for life through character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation.

History of FCCLA

Founded over 75 years ago in Chicago, Illinois by 29 Home Economic leaders, FCCLA has a rich history. Formerly known as FHA (Future Homemakers of America), the organization has continuously changed lives. Whether it is through National Programs such as FACTS or Power of One, supporting families, preparing members to be college and career ready, or by providing members new opportunities such as the ability to compete, to explore new career pathways and to build new friendships.

Colors 

FCCLA colors are red and white. Red represents strength, courage, and determination. White depicts sincerity and integrity of purpose and action, allowing us to build a better and "Brighter Tomorrow"

Purposes of FCCLA

  • To provide opportunities for personal development and preparation for adult life. 

  • To strengthen the function of the family as a basic unit of society.

  • To encourage democracy through cooperative action in the home and community.

  • To encourage individual and group involvement in helping achieve global cooperation and harmony.

  • To promote greater understanding between youth and adults.

  • To provide opportunities for making decisions and for assuming responsibilities.

  • To prepare for the multiple roles of men and women in today's society.

  • To promote Family and Consumer Sciences and related occupations.

The Red Rose

The Red Rose represents the organization because it gives joy through its beauty and fragrance. It symbolizes a desire for beauty in everyday living.
